A beautiful exhibition of the photographer Bérénice Abbott (1898-1991) at the photography museum Charles Nègre in Nice until January 27, 2019. Photos of all size will make you discover the work of this rather eclectic documentarist.

Abbott exhibition at the Musée Charles Nègre

Expo Photo Abbott Nice

The exhibition offers an overview of his work, Abbott was, for a time, the assistant of the famous photographer Man Ray.
The architectural photo occupies the main hall of the ground floor, while the back room offers beautiful portraits a bit like the front, Sanders who had, the honors of the museum in 2011 when it was still boulevard Dubouchage. The French photographer Atget (documentary photography), a portrait by Abbott adorns the back room, foreshadows and influences the work of Abbott. Science enthusiasts, for example, nearby high schools and universities will appreciate a dozen scientific photographs representing experiments in physics or chemistry.

The first floor, in mezzanine, exposes very beautiful prints in black and white of the author in the purest documentary style (urban space, galloping industrialization of the United States, construction in height etc.).

A nice idea to visit so, a few steps from Cours Saleya and the sea, in the beautiful and lively old town of Nice.
